Back in October Jasmine and 6 of the P4S Bootcampers auditioned for a role in a National Kashi commercial and out of a field of many other Bootcamp groups, the P4S group was chosen. Pita, Jason, Lela, Yvette, Melissa & Lauren joined me in Central park and the results look dam good. Pita and Yvette get a serious close up! The directors said that they loved our energy and I know P4S Bootcampers have lots of energy and personality. Great job guys!!

Jasmine and Todd Colby of Jack Rabbit Sports in Park Slope Bklyn show you the most effective way to purchase running shoes. Many of us go into sports stores and go to the Crosstraining or Running section and pick a sneaker that looks good or one that is popular. The truth is you need to buy the correct sneaker that will support your body. You should go to a Running store that has a treadmill and someone that will do a gait analysis and recommend the correct sneaker based on that analysis.
Check out this VERY informative video :

Top Ten Rules of Weight Loss for Runners
Dana Villamagna
Unwanted weight gain can happen to even the most health-savvy women. A perfect storm of stress, eating on the go, pregnancy and age-related metabolic slowdown can gradually pile on extra pounds.
After years of self-described “insane workaholic behavior,” Columbia University associate professor Jenny Davidson experienced a gradual but significant weight gain. “The next thing I knew, I was 50 pounds overweight,” says Davidson. To lose weight, she skipped the fad diets and instead focused on exercise and a healthy eating plan. Her reward: She lost 80 pounds and is now an avid runner and triathlete.

I have a condition called Hypothyroidism . Link to MayoClinic.com This means that my thyroid is sluggish and my metabolism is very slow. Oprah has the same condition; I guess that I am in great company huh?
Anyway, I have met so many people this past year that have been dealing with this. Most doctors don't do a TSH test during your physical so many times the condition goes undiagnosed.
What is hypothyroidism?
Hypothyroidism means your thyroid is not making enough thyroid hormone. The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland in the front of your neck. It makes hormones that control the way your body uses energy.

Signs and Solutions to Childhood Obesity
By Erin Monaghan
Approximately nine million American children over 6 years old are considered obese according to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies. Overweight children are becoming an epidemic. Children are beginning to get diseases and health problems only previously seen in adults. Ten years ago, it was unheard of a child being diagnosed with type–2 diabetes, now its becoming a regular occurrence. Obesity in children is also being linked to apnea, high cholesterol, liver dieses and asthma.
